Our eyesight is one of our most important senses: 80% of what we perceive comes through our sense of sight. By looking after our eyes, we can reduce the risk of blindness and vision loss, while also staying on top of any developing eye diseases such as cataracts and glaucoma.

Thousands of impoverished people in the world today will go blind every single year. Through poverty, they do not have the money to pay for treatment, medication or even to purchase prescription glasses they may need. Without access to proper eyecare, and the knowledge of its importance, eye health can deteriorate and lead to sight loss.

People from low-income backgrounds are more likely to become blind due to the lack of access to and ability to pay for medical treatment, and blindness can worsen poverty by limiting employment chances, or by incurring treatment costs that people cannot afford to pay.

Providing free eye care through our eye camps is at the heart of the healthcare support the Sarwar Foundation provides. We take our free eye health camps directly to the people and the communities who need it most.

When people can’t come to us, we go to them

Our eye health camps are held over a 3-day period, and with the help of respected local ophthalmologists, hundreds of people are given free eye examinations, treatment including cataract operations, glasses and medication. During an eye test, the doctor will assess the patient’s vision and determine if they need any further medical treatment. Every single person who attends our eye health camps will receive the treatment they require and is provided with the very best care.

Regular eye examinations are critical to good eye health. Having your vision checked regularly can help improve the quality of day-to-day life, and can also help detect certain eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration, which could lead to sight loss.

Saving sight and changing lives

The majority of the causes of vision impairment and loss can be prevented or corrected through early detection and treatment. By helping ensure that eye health care is a priority, our eye camps are changing the lives of thousands of people across Pakistan.

With your support, we can continue to provide many more free eye camps, free medicine and free eye surgery, and help save the gift of sight for thousands of vulnerable people across Pakistan.
